Defining your core values can sometimes feel like a balancing act with operational core values like efficiency on one side and the softer stuff like positivity on the other. At Business Butterflies we strive for professionalism to demonstrate competence, reliability, and good advice. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity, acting ethically and with honesty in every situation.

But amidst the deadlines and demands, it's easy to forget two crucial elements: joy and kindness, without these, we would just be robots carrying out our daily quota of tasks. And who can truly succeed without being prepared? Here's how we find the balance between these seemingly different values, creating a more fulfilling and successful business experience:

PROFESSIONALISM With A Smile

High standards of expertise combined with conducting ourselves in a professional manner, are at the heart of everything we do. I believe you should be appropriately trained and/or experienced before you hand out advice. That’s why I have a degree in business studies, 15 years experience as a qualified accountant, and I’m a Certified Pumpkin Plan Growth Strategist!

However, being professional doesn't mean being robotic. I like to inject a bit of personality and warmth into my interactions. A genuine smile and a friendly greeting can go a long way in building rapport and fostering positive relationships.

INTEGRITY Above All Else

We believe in honesty, transparency, and consistency in all our actions. This one's a no-brainer. Honesty, transparency, and fairness are the cornerstones of trust and respect. When faced with difficult choices, it’s important to remember the values that define you and stand firm in your beliefs.

Finding JOY In The Journey

I strive to infuse joy and positivity in my clients journey towards their business goals. Let's face it, not every task will be exhilarating. But that doesn't mean we can't find joy in the journey. I like to celebrate small wins, and surround myself with positive people. A spark of joy is contagious and can make any task more enjoyable.

KINDNESS: The Unseen Advantage

I treat every client with kindness, respecting their unique needs and values. Kindness isn'st just about being nice. It's about empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to help others. A simple act of kindness, like offering help or simply listening attentively, can have a profound impact on someone's day and create a stronger, more supportive work or indeed home environment.

PREPAREDNESS is Power

I value being well-prepared to ensure effective and efficient client service. Feeling prepared fosters confidence and reduces stress. This doesn't mean micromanaging every detail, but rather being organized, anticipating potential challenges, and having the necessary skills and resources at hand.

Being prepared means a better experience for me and those I interact with. I think it’s also how you respect other people’s time. We’ve all had experiences of turning up to an appointment, only to find the person you’re meeting isn’t ready and hasn’t prepared. This is so frustrating because it demonstrates a lack of respect.

Remember, these values are not independent acts but rather interconnected elements that I think contribute to a fulfilling and successful professional life. By embracing them all, I believe we can create a work environment, that is not only productive, but also positive, kind, and joyful. And who doesn’t want that?
